One of the most popular questions from our clients is the cost of utility bills in Bulgaria. Today we'll tell you how much basic utilities—electricity and water—will cost in the Burgas region in 2026.
Bulgaria doesn't have the concept of a single "rental fee," as is common in post-Soviet countries. Property owners pay for electricity and water according to their actual consumption, as determined by individual meters.
As of January 1, 2026, Bulgaria switched to the euro, so current tariffs are given in euros.
Electricity
In the Burgas region, the main electricity supplier for residential consumers is EVN.
As of July 1, 2026, the following final prices, including network services and VAT, will apply:
Daytime tariff—€0.15458 per kWh; The night rate is €0.09226 per kWh.
With a single-tariff meter, the cost is €0.15458 per kWh.
Therefore, for example, with a monthly consumption of 300 kWh, the electricity cost will be approximately €46 if the entire volume is calculated at the daytime rate.
Actual costs depend on the apartment's size, the number of residents, and the use of air conditioners, heating, and other electrical appliances. The difference can be especially noticeable in winter if the apartment is heated with electricity.
Electricity bills are issued regularly, and they can be paid in various ways, including online.
Water
The cost of water in the Burgas region depends on the specific locality and the services provided. In Burgas and several other towns in the region, services are provided by "V&K Burgas."
As of March 1, 2026, tariffs for residential consumers are excluding VAT:
water supply — €1.289 per m³; wastewater disposal — €0.379 per m³; wastewater treatment — €0.583 per m³.
If all three services are paid for at a specific address, the total cost is approximately €2.70 per m³ including VAT.
For example, consuming 5 m³ of water per month will cost approximately €13.50.

For an apartment owner in the Burgas region, the main monthly utility costs are electricity and water. Their size directly depends on actual consumption.
If the apartment is used only for a few weeks or months a year, utility costs will be significantly lower than if you live there full-time.
